Asthma – What you should know
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory respiratory disease involving the bronchii and small airways in the lungs. Typical symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing and a tight feeling in the chest. These symptoms can vary in intensity and be triggered by exercise, inhaled allergens or infections.
Assessment and diagnosis
To diagnose asthma, we obtain a detailed medical history and perform various diagnostic tests in our practice, such as lung function tests, allergy tests and assessment of inflammatory markers.
Treatment options
The treatment of asthma is individually tailored to the patient. In most cases it involves of the use of inhaled medication that dilates the airways and reduces inflammation. The personalized treatment plan includes training on the correct inhalation technique and recommendations on how to deal with triggers. In severe forms of asthma, special medications such as immunotherapy (biologicals) are sometimes used.
Our aim is to control your asthma symptoms as well as possible and improve your quality of life. Together we will find the right therapy for you.
